Do you have an engineer in your life and need to find him or her a gift? I enjoy making handmade pens, and one line of pens I make are circuit board pens. Not only are these great gifts for engineers, but they also fit the bill for techies or a computer whiz.
You can make these yourself (if you have the equipment), or you can purchase one from me. I sell these for $40 each and then add on $5 for shipping/handling. All the pens pictured here have been sold, but I can easily make more.
I make these on my JET mini lathe. They are made of actual circuit boards that have been embedded in acrylic. I turn the acrylic blank on my lathe to form the pen body. Then I polish the pen body before assembling it. The pen tip, pen cap, and clip are pressed into the pen body. I do each one by hand. These pens have a twist mechanism and use standard ink refills found in office supply stores.
Circuit boards come in orange, green, black, white, and blue colors.
Here are some ideas and settings where these make great gifts:
- Graduates (especially for engineers and techies)
- Door prize for special events.
- Gift for a special client (especially in a technical field)
- Birthdays, Father’s Day, Mother’s Day, Christmas
- Employee recognition
- Gift for professor or teacher
- Hold a giveaway on your own website
- Get someone into the hobbie of pen making (follow my blog and learn more)
As you can see, there are many opportunties where the circuit board pens make wonderful gifts. If you are interested in purchasing a circuit board pen, please use the contact link above and send me an email. I will try to respond within 24 to 48 hours.
