I absolutely love these bolt action pens. The bolt-action mechanism is an ingenious design which smoothly extends and retracts the ink refill. Just look at the detail in the rifle clips. The pen tip resembles a bullet, attached to a 30 caliber cartridge. These make great gifts for hunters and shooting enthusiasts.
These pens are super easy to make. I recently made both these pens on my JET Mini Lathe. The top pen is made from Lacewood which grows throughout Australia and Europe. Beautiful grain pattern. This pen sports an antique brass plating.
The bottom pen is made from Curly Maple. The Curly Maple is my favorite of the two. The wavy figure in the grain is awesome. This pen has a gun metal plating.
If you are interested in making one of these, please refer to my tutorial: How to Make an American Patriot Bolt-Action Pen.
